Background
I began playing violin and piano at five years old, and started voice lessons when I was six. I continued my studies all through to high school, and went on to study violin performance and composition at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Although I am classically trained, I have extensive experience and improvisation and fiddle music, including Polish Highlander music (Góralski Muzyka). I was the muscial director and main violinist for 5 years, in The White Eagle Band, a Polish folk music group in Victoria, BC. After graduating from Uvic in 2017, I’ve been working as a film composer, and have so far written for 10 short films.
Philosophy
When I started violin lessons, I was taught with the Suzuki method, which inspires the love of music and emphasizes the importance of nurturing a child’s development and a musical ability. Every person is different, and therefore my method of teaching each person will vary considerably. Daily practice is important to reach your goals, but I find that building habits and being excited about music is the most valuable part of my lessons. I am very passionate about music, and how it has shaped my life, and I can’t wait to share that with all of my students.
